MARTINEZ, CA — March 14 is recognized as Pi Day. Pi is 3.14, which as all math nerds know is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter.
And what better way to recognize Pi Day than with free pie?
Raley's Supermarkets will give a $10 gift certificate toward a pie to anyone who makes a donation of $100 or more to Meals On Wheels Diablo Region between now and March 14.
For the past year, MOW Diablo Region has been delivering meals to 40-percent more seniors in the Martinez area and beyond.
"We are keeping those we serve nourished, safe, healthy, and living at home with dignity during these difficult times," MOW said in a printed statement. "Because the need is so great, we depend on the generosity of our donors more than ever, and with the support of Raley's Supermarkets, we thought we'd sweeten the opportunity for you to donate!"
